Continuing with our 'Making Memories with Moms' series since 2022, we are back with another trip with our moms this year. This time, our destination was Europe - Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein. We kicked off our trip in Germany, and drove around the entire country in 10 days covering a total distance of 2856 kms (1775 miles), and continued our journey in Switzerland by trains. This was a hectic trip but we are so thankful for the opportunity to enjoy all the amazing places and sceneries with our moms, making memories that will last for a long time.

20 May 2025 (Tues): Brienz - Isetwald
After spending some time in Brienz, we boarded the 2.30pm BLS cruise at Brienz. The BLS cruise was included in the Berner Oberland Pass so we decided to take the cruise to travel on Lake Brienz from Brienz to Isetwald. It wasn't raining when we boarded so we were able to sit on the outside deck for awhile before it started pouring half way through our boat ride.
The boat ride between Brienz and Isetwald took about 25 minutes with a quick stop at Giessbach. The building perched high up on a hill reached by cogwheel train in the middle left photo is the Grandhotel Giessbach, which is also the filming location for CLOY. This classic luxury hotel is known for having retained its classic Belle Epoque splendour. This hotel was the filming location of Captain Ri's "music university" in episode 9.
Arrived Isetwald at 3.10pm. I wanted to visit Isetwald because this village was featured four times in CLOY, therefore should be on every 'Crash Landing on You' travelers must visit list. I certainly had fun retracing BinJin's footsteps at all these CLOY filming locations after 5 years.
This boat was feature at the end of episode 7. Seri was on the cruise boat appraoching Isetweld when she heard the beautiful piano music.
And Captain Ri was the one playing the piano on this pier. Yes, very K-drama but I love it...lol!
This 'piano dock' became so popular with CLOY fans that the local residents decided to put up this turnstile to collect 'entrance fees' to the pier...lol! Yes I am a CLOY and BinJin fan but not crazy enough to pay CHF 5 to take photos on the pier. Btw, most tourists visiting this village are Asians...lol!
Crash Landing on You (CLOY) definitely 'crashed' the originally quiet Isetwald with all the crazy tourists. The power of CLOY...hahaha!
After a quick photo stop at Isetwald, we took bus 103 from Isetwald to Interlaken at 3.30pm. The bus was packed but we were able to secure seats for this 30 min ride thanks to my kiasu skill...lol!
21 May 2025 (Wed): Wilderswil - Isetwald
It was raining all morning and we were planning to just chill all day. However, when I looked out the window at 3.30pm and saw that the sun was out, I decided not to waste the good weather. I had some incomplete 'mission' at Isetwald the day before so mom and I decided to venture out. We took the train to Interlaken OST and hopped on bus 103 to get to Isetwald.
The bus arrived Isetwald at 4.30pm and we only had about 20 min here before getting on the next boat to Brienz at 4.50pm. It takes about 18 min to go back and forth the Schorren lakeside pedestrian area, so I told mom to wait for me at the pier while I ran (literally) to take some photos.
Yes, this pedestrian area in front of Strandbad and Camping Isetwald was another CLOY filming location that I missed yesterday because we ran out of time. This pedestrian path appeared in the opening sequence of CLOY, where Seri and Captain Ri walked on opposite sides of the path, with Seeburg Castle seen in the background.
Glad I had this place all to myself to take all the photos and videos I wanted (very quickly) as I still had to walk/run back to the pier. Lake Brienz with Seeburg castle in the background is so beautiful.
Made it back to the pier just in time as the boat was docking.
Thanks mom for waiting for this crazy CLOY/BinJin fan...lol!
We got back on the same boat as yesterday but going the opposite direction from Isetwald to Brienz. Fortunately, it wasn't raining this time around.
