Continuing with our 'Making Memories with Moms' series since 2022, we are back with another trip with our moms this year. This time, our destination was Europe - Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein. We kicked off our trip in Germany, and drove around the entire country in 10 days covering a total distance of 2856 kms (1775 miles), and continued our journey in Switzerland by trains. This was a hectic trip but we are so thankful for the opportunity to enjoy all the amazing places and sceneries with our moms, making memories that will last for a long time.

10-Days Road Trip Around Germany, Luxembourg & Liechtenstein
15 May 2025 (Thurs): St. Goar - Heidelberg - Gengenbach - Ringsheim (322.2 km)
Checked out of Weinhotel Landsknecht hotel at 10am and started our 2.5 hours drive from Rhine Valley to Heidelberg. Finally a later start on this 'bootcamp'...lol!
Made it to Heidelberg at 12.30pm. Parked at Parkhaus P13 Karlsplatz for €6 for 3 hours.
We have been very lucky with the beautiful weather in Germany. Dominating Market Square is the Church of the Holy Spirit (Heiliggeistkirche), the largest and most important church in Heidelberg.
Strolled along the pedestrian-only cobbledstoned Old Bridge (Alte Brücke).
View of Heidelberg Castle from the Old Bridge. Heidelberg Castle one of the most impressive urban castles in all of Europe, it was also one of the most important castles in Medieval Germany.
Another random uphill hike on this 'bootcamp'. It takes around 0.5 miles (15-20 min) each way from the northern end of the Old Bridge to hike up to the main area of the Philosopher's Path.
View of Heidelberg from Philosopher's Way. We hiked all the way up from that bridge!
Hiked back downhill at 2pm and had doner kebab and Thai food for late lunch at 2.30pm.
At one-mile-long, the Main Street (Hauptstraße) is the longest pedestrian zone in Germany and is filled with shops.
Left Heidelberg at 3.30pm and continued driving to Gengenbach.
Arrived Gengenbach at 5.45pm. Gengenbach is a quaint small town that is more local and less touristy.
So many cute German houses here!
Honestly, I felt this town was nicer and more 'German' than Rothenburg.
After a quick stroll around Gengenbach, we left at 6.30pm and headed to our hotel.
Checked in Holiday Inn Express Ringsheim 7.10pm and decided to have sandwich for simple dinner. Booked this stay for 17,000 IHG points per room.
Next stop...Black Forest!
