November

Been pretty busy with work lately (dgp-fied) and rushing to complete all my work before mid-December so here's a quick update of what I was up to in the month of November.

11 November 2012: CRC Swimming Gala...our annual family event. =P We get to have fun, spend time with family, and win lotsa goodies...that's why we keep coming back year after year for this!

17 November 2012: Mom's B-day.

24 November 2012: MICPASS Netball competition quarter-finals. Weather was perfect during the first-half but it started pouring during the second-half so we ended up playing in the rain. We won the game but got ourselves drenched.

25 November 2012: Continued with semi-finals the next morning under the scorching hot sun. We lost the semis but we've done our best and it was a great game. =)

Our awesome team...rain or shine...you girls have done an awesome job!!! Thank y'all for all your efforts and a great game!! Let's strive to do better next year!!

Thanks to all the supporters who came to support us!!! =)

1 December 2012: MICPASS Hiking competition.

1 December 2012: MICPASS dinner at Hard Rock Hotel. It's a wrap for all the sporting events this year. Time to take a break from badminton, netball, and hiking till one year later...lol!!

A Month to Remember...April 2012

April 2012...a month of turning dreams into reality...a month of adventures...a month of eat+sleep+rest+travel+race...a month of achieving crazy 'records'. =P In the effort to remember this memorable month, here's a list of crazy things we did/'records' achieved in April 2012. Also some of the 'souvenirs' that we brought back from the race. =P

1. Most cabs I've ever taken within a month

Compilation of all the cabs that we took during the race...lol!! Fortunately, most of the cab drivers that we had were really nice. =)

I was digging through the stuff that we brought back from the race and found these 'faded' cab receipts...lol!! Can't believe we actually kept all these!! =P

2. Most hotels stayed within a month

14 hotels in a month...average 2 nights per hotel. =P I didn't have my camera with me during the race so I came back and looked up all these hotels on google...haha!! =P

富驿酒店 Furuma Xpress Nanjing East          上海24K国际连锁酒店 24K International Hotel
皇城相府贵宾楼 Xiangfu Grand Hotel            绥芬河数码港酒店 Suifenhe Shumagang Hotel
吉林延边白山大厦 Yanbian Baishan Hotel      平湖景江宾馆 Pinghu Jinjiang Inn
莫干山皇后饭店 Moganshan Queen's Hotel     黄山心族之旅酒店 Huangshan Mountain Hotel
莫泰168南京 Nanjing Motel 168                   萬里仙境溫泉會館 Wanli Spa & Resort
淡水亞太飯店 Asia Pacific Hotel                   伊樂園大飯店 Paradise Hotel
成都宇豪·罗曼大酒店 Luoman Grand Hotel    上海锦江之星 Jinjiang Inn Shanghai

3. Most flights taken within a month

Some of the boarding pass that I kept. We traveled quite a lot by bus though.

4. Most I've slept in the last few years
5. Most TV I've watched in a month
6. Most packing I've done in a month
7. Longest I survived without internet/computer

Since we weren't allowed to use internet/computer throughout the race, there was nothing much we could do when we were not racing. We just bummed in the hotel, slept a lot (at any time of the day), watched TV (we were so bored to the extent that we started watching Thai dramas), hand-washed & used hair-dryer to dry our clothes, and was constantly packing and unpacking our backpacks.

8. Most sewing I've ever done

We purposely bought these 3 plain t-shirts from Uniqlo for the race. These t-shirts are actually guys cutting but guess what I did while bumming in the hotel, I requested for about 10 packets of sewing kit and started sewing the inner-side of my t-shirts so that they fit me better...not bad huh...lol!!!

9. Nerdy things we did during the race

Desperate times call for desperate measures. We had no google map but wanted to have an idea of which part of China we were heading to during the race so this was my version of 'Google map placemarks'...hahaha!! =P

We had a notebook to document about the race (just in case we made it to the finals). =P And our own version of Wikipedia's team ranking...we are such nerds...lol!!!

10. Priceless Souvenir

We kept all the clues & envelopes that we received throughout the race and carried all of them in bro's backpack as we raced. This is a complete set from Leg 1 to Leg 8. =P

Finale of Our Truly Amazing Journey

Leg 12: The Amazing Race China Rush 3 Finale - Chengdu, Sichuan (四川成都)

11 teams, 12 cities, 8000 km, 28 days of filming, 12 exciting episodes...season 3 of the Amazing Race China Rush has finally wrapped up last Sunday. Even though we've bid farewell to the race after our elimination, the finale in Chengdu marked an official end to this remarkably amazing race for all of us. =)

All the contestants flew in to Chengdu to cheer for the final 3 at the final pit stop. While the final 3 were busy racing around Chengdu, all of us gathered in the hotel before heading to the pit stop. It was so good to see everyone, felt like day 1 all over again! =) Jiajia asked everyone to place bet on who we think will win the race and even though both Trainers and Harvard were strong teams, we placed our bet on Harvard coz we heard that Lei Sheng hurt his legs in the last few legs and it would be tough on him if there were any physical tasks in the final leg.

While waiting for the 3 teams to arrive, we took the opportunity to snap pics with all the teams. So good to have my camera with me...haha!!

And the top 3 teams!!

Most importantly...a pic with our Amazing host, Allan Wu, on the super-sized pit stop mat!! Thanks for hosting another Amazing season!! =)

Non-stop taking pictures while standby-ing waiting for the teams to arrive. Rocking our Penang Island t-shirt again. =P Top left pic: Terence (sound guy) really looked like he was mopping the mat with his fluffy mic...hahaha!!

Just to show how big the pit stop mat was...jump shot failed though. =P

After waiting anxiously under the hot sun for quite awhile, we were all hyped-up when we heard that the first team have finally arrived!! Tadaa...the "Trainers" is the winner of the Amazing Race China Rush Season 3!!! Congratulations to Lei Sheng & Liu Wei Wei. Even though we lost our bet, we're happy that they won the race coz they really deserved it!! They've ran an honorable race and it was definitely a well-deserved win. And that means Liu Wei Wei gets to travel the world...hehe!! =P Kudos to Charlie, Ryan, Steven & Christine too for completing the race!

Final team rankings for The Amazing Race China Rush Season 3

Congratulations to all of the teams for making this season such an exciting and entertaining experience for everyone!! It has been a great pleasure knowing all you awesome peeps!!

Thank you to all the teams, crew, production, staff, and ICS for making it all such an Amazing experience for us all! Hope you guys enjoyed watching this amazing season!

Thanks to Yating & Josh for "babysitting" us during the race! =P

Chillin' with fellow contestants. Someone asked me, which team are we closest with? Haha...good question! We have different answers for pre-race, during race, and post-race. Conclusion, we were close with most of the teams...haha!!

Wrap party at a bar with the big China Rush family after the race. Good times!! =)

Had Sichuan food for lunch with all the crew and contestants before they leave to the airport. Our big group filled up the top floor of the restaurant...lol!!

We stayed back in Chengdu for one more day before flying back to Malaysia while the entire big group flew back to Shanghai. That's it...it's a wrap for this Amazing journey!!

Finally it's time to get back to reality after an amazing month-long journey. Looking back now, the past month seemed so surreal. Absolutely thankful for the opportunity to travel to all the AMAZING places with a bunch of AMAZING people!!

AXN Big Challenge 2.0

27 Oct 2012 (Sat): AXA Affin "Health for Life" AXN Big Challenge @ Straits Quay

I'm back!! Some of you may have noticed that my blog was not accessible earlier on coz it was offline under construction for some 'migration' work. =P Anyway, I'm finally done with it so it's time to continue blogging about what I was up to recently. P.S. It was good to take a break from Amazing Race related posts after our farewell episode and gave me some time to get stuffs done before work gets crazy soon! =)

I've mentioned before that bro and I did a commercial for this year's AXN Big Challenge and it was aired on various Astro channels in September. Being last year's winners, I thought we won't be allowed to participate this year but surprisingly, there was no such restriction...of course I won't miss out on such a fun event!! =P

Unlike last year's challenge, this year's challenge is split into male and female category. Bro didn't take part this time but since he was back in Penang for the weekend, he was my cameraman for the day. =)

Everyone had to go through this qualifying round to be shortlisted for the next round. I was kinda worried that I couldn't complete this challenge but luckily it was a smooth ride!  =P

The 8 obstacles for the main challenge...ain't easy for females huh! Personally, I think that the rope obstacle and monkey bar were more challenging for girls. Not many people knew that I was one half of the champion last year until the hosts, Vanessa and Jentzen, recognized me and announced it through the mic. =.= Low profile mission failed...lol!! It's a total different challenge this year so winning last year doesn't mean I'll win again so I came just to have fun and try my best...no pressure. =) People who knows me know that I love all these kinda obstacle challenges...you get to have fun and stand a chance to win prizes...why not give it a try right? =P

Amazing Racers in Penang!!! Vanessa was the 1st runner-up in the Amazing Race Asia Season 2.

My cheer-leading team for the day. =P Thanks to dad, mom, and bro for being there all day to wait for me. =)

Anxiously waited for the result of the main challenge to find out who made it into the final 5. So happy to hear number 62 being announced...woohoo!!!

Top 5 male & females who made it through to the final challenge.

The final challenge. It was all about arm's strength...very exhausting especially when you're competing against time. I was also trying to be careful not to drop any of the number cards as I remove them from the carabiners and hook them on to my carabiner.

Went around taking some photos while waiting for the final result.

Woohoo...1st runner-up for female category!!! Strong competition this year...I'm very satisfied with this result!! =)

The winners for male & female category in Penang.

Very kiasu took more pics with the mock cheque before returning it to the organizers. =P

Dinner treat for my cheerleaders...haha!! Lotsa freebies from AXN and AXA.
