Alaska 2025 ✈ Part 5: Glacier Bay National Park

After years of talking about visiting Alaska, we finally found the opportunity to make this trip happen thanks to a cruise offer from Princess. We are grateful to check off this bucket list trip with an 11-day Alaskan cruise with mom. We intentionally chose to begin our Alaskan cruise in San Francisco (instead of Seattle or Vancouver) as this was a good opportunity for hubby to spend time with his buddy before embarking on the cruise.

19 Sep 2025 (Fri): Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska

Glacier Bay National Park was one of the 'stop' (scenic cruising) that I was most looking forward to on this trip.

But we woke up to this weather =.=

Since it was cold, foggy, an dmisty outside, we found a good spot in Adagio lounge (deck 16) to chill while we wait to see the glaciers. I wasn't putting much hope to see anything in this crappy weather.

We were so excited when the fog suddenly cleared up just enough for us to see John Hopkins glacier!

We found out later from the captain that our ship decided not to go to the more popular and photogenic Margerie Glacier in Tarr Inlet due to low visibility. =.=

No clear blue skies for our Glacier Bay cruising but I guess the mist and fog adds some mystical feel to the scenery.

The weather changes very quickly. We went back to the room to get mom and by the time we came back out 20 minutes later, John Hopkins glacier was not visible already.

Spotted National Geographic ship with people from that ship kayaking near the glaciers.

Our Glacier Bay scenic cruising wasn't what I was hoping for but oh well, can't control the weather. Not complaining though because we've been fortunate to see lots of glaciers in Antarctica, and they were a different league compared to these. The fact that we visited Antarctica before Alaska certainly dampered our excitement of seeing the sceneries and wildlife here, which was good in a way coz we had no expectation = no disappointment.

Next stop...Victoria, Canada.
