ACCA-TARC Student Conference 2008

Casa Rachado Resort Port Dickson, 12-13 July 2008

Hey there FAS committees...SMILE!! Thank ya all for a great year!! :)

I'm back in Penang!! I've been staying back in KL till so late mainly because of my last task as the Chairperson in Financial Accounting Society - the ACCA-TARC Student Conference. We've been planning for this event for more than a month and it hadn't been easy pulling everything together!!

This was the first time that we moved this event out from college and the hardest part was to get the approval from college...coz you know...nobody wants changes...people want 'status quo'...especially the 'bosses'. Ms Geh was the one who fought for us and helped us make this event a success!!

Somehow, we managed to get the approval and the next thing was to get started with our work. I've delegated work to each of the committees and unfortunately...ended up doing most of it myself with Ms Geh!! Reason being...the conference falls between their progress tests...which we didn't know when we booked the resort...damn!!

Since I'm considered the 'free-iest' person in the committee (coz I've deferred my course to go to US)...and I understand that many of them are 'top students'...I had to do almost EVERYTHING!! I had to type out the entire name list & particulars of all participants; arrange their groups, rooms & buses; design the entire booklet; design & type all the name tags; come out with ice-breaking & team-building games; be someone's secretary to email the banner guy....etc!! I don't mind helping out to do all these...but I'm pissed with the fact that some of them didn't even asked how was things going on!! Come on...it wouldn't kill them to juz 'pretend' to ask right???

Our advisor, Ms Geh also ended up helping us to print the booklets and name tags...what the heck!! We should be the one doing all these and they didn't even offered to help!! Gosh...show some commitment as a committee please!!

But in a nutshell, the event was indeed a success and I'm glad to see the participants enjoying themselves and had a great time throughout the event!!! I appreciate the effort of all the committees who have helped a lot in all the activities (apart from one who 'fei gei' the whole team)despite having tests the next 2 days. It wouldn't be a success without anyone of them though!!! Juz wanted to let out my emotions here since we don't have any post-mortem...hehe! :)

This was how the banner looked like in SBS. Costs RM1200...used for less than 1 week...OMG!

Thanks to Ms Zuraida and Mr Ridzuan for making this event a success!!!

5C1 Forever!!

5C1 Buddies Gathering @ Old Town, Autocity, 21 June 2008

It has been 4 years since we left high school...can't believe how time flies!! Many of us in 5C1 had taken different routes and went in different directions. This trip back, I managed to meet up with 7 of them even though it was quite a last minute arrangement.

This year...2008!!!

It was great to meet up and chat with them after such a long time. Yong Shi came back from UK for summer holidays; Shu Ling came back from Singapore; Ying Hui, Nen Sin and Pei Leng still in UM; Shu Fen & Zoe in USM. There were so much to talk about and 3 hours were definitely not enough to catch up so many things!! We also celebrated Shu Fen and Shu Ling's 21st birthday!!

5C1...this class brought us all together...

2004: Sending Jo Ann off to Canada

2005: BBQ gathering at my house

2005: 5C1 gathering at Megamall's Old Town

2006: 5C1 Gathering at Autocity

Different places...different people...but we all have something in common...we all belong to the lovely family of 2004 5C1!!! Hope that our friendship will last forever~!!!

Thing's Gonna Be Different!!!

It was an ordinary working day for me on April 14. All of us had been kinda busy coz grandma had juz gone through a major operation few days ago. As usual, I went to work on that Monday morning. While I was chillin’ doing my own stuff, I received a phone call from Ms Rozana from the US Embassy. And guess what…she told me that my brother and I have got the scholarship to participate in the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program!!!! That means…we’ll be going off to US to study for a year!!! It was a total surprise for me coz I didn’t expect to get it since it has been quite some time since we submitted our application.

I still remember that we submitted our application in such a hurry. I was supposed to depart to Hawaii at night on Jan 7 and mum came down all the way to send me off. I had to prepare all the documents including an essay within 2 days…gosh!! After sitting for the MYOB test on Monday, I rushed over to Sony BMG to collect my Hawaii air ticket first then quickly filled up the application form and attached all the documents before heading to the US Embassy to submit it. We went to KLIA immediately after everything was done and I didn’t really put much hope on getting it back then.

It was after my exam when someone from the US Embassy called for a short telephone interview…I was kinda blur throughout the interview and it lasted only for less than 5 minutes!! There were completely no news after that and 2 months was over already so I thought well…I guess I didn’t get it.

I didn’t tell many people about this earlier on coz I haven’t received any confirmation yet and I don’t even know the details of it. Better not tell everyone coz if anything goes wrong…it will be such a let down!! So far, I’ve sat for my TOEFL test, went for a medical check up and finally received the confirmation letter in mid-May.

I was just informed that I’ll be going to University of Alabama for a non-degree program for one academic year. A total of 7 students from Malaysia were selected. Besides studying, we’ll be participating in community service activity and also internships.

I’m still not sure when I’ll be going off and I’ve still got a couple of things to settle with the college. I’ll probably defer for a year and come back to continue my final year next year. It’s sad that I’ll not be able to graduate together with my fellow course mates coz they’ve been such a great bunch of people!!!

Forces Of Nature

Life's So Unpredictable!! May 12...a day to remember...

6 days after Sichuan's devastating earthquake

Death toll escalating day after day

So many people buried alive

Rescuers battling against time

Hoping to save people trapped in rubble

Chances of surviving getting slimmer

Every minute every second counts

Rescue efforts pouring in from everywhere

Standing together to make things better

Injured, homeless, starving, despaired

Counting down 83 days to Olympic

One more obstacle to overcome

Let's pray for them

Help them go through this tough moment

Imagine how lucky we are

Count our blessings in life

Cherish what we have now

Lend our helping hand whenever we can

Make this world a better place!!

I'm Lovin' My Intern Life...Really!!!

Our office's pantry...luv the 'platinum' coffee machine...making drinks have never been simpler!!

See how we messed up client's office..Haha!! That whole stack of files are juz a tiny part of my work...imagine that!!

Haha...wondering why I say so?? Be patient...juz read the lyrics below...itz in Cantonese and there might be some errors...juz ignore them..hehe!! I was extremely FREE in the office and that's why I came out with these lyrics to describe my working life as a VT in PWC...muahaha!!! :)

In fact, I wanted to upload a song here but I've been tryin for the past few days...and it juz doesn't work...damn!! Juz happened to hear that song from the radio one afternoon during work...the song is not popular but the lyrics somehow juz made me laugh...itz called 日出而作.

By the way, I've been allocated for a job for 3 weeks and finally...I've got something to do!! But...I still prefer sitting in the office coz all I've been doing for my job is just vouching and vouching and VOUCHING...!!! So tedious and boring...the photo above is not that clear...see all my writings there?? Yeah...tatz what I've been doing...plus...the words are so freakingly small...my eyes are popping out already!! Well...shouldn't be complaining anymore...haha...relaxed enough already...time to do some work!!! Go Go Go!!!

3 litre
